Volunteering

Working with young people is rewarding

Our volunteers make a real difference to the lives of Young Carers by:

An induction programme is available for all new volunteers on Young Carers’ issues and needs, mentoring and working with young people.
Some of the other training opportunities available to volunteers have included:

  • First Aid
  • Safeguarding Children
  • Understanding Adolescence
  • Effective Communication
 – Breaking down the barriers – through drama
  • Addictions in the family
  • TAP Training – Basic Youth Work Qualification
  • Counselling Skills
  • Mental Health Awareness Training

All volunteers are paid out of pocket expenses.

Don’t forget - you can use volunteering on your CV or to obtain references, to share your skills and to have FUN.  Volunteers are especially welcome from the unemployed.
Volunteers are required across Mid Devon.

What our Volunteers have to say…

“Before training I was unaware of the pressures Young Carers face.”

“As a direct result of my involvement with Kids Who Care, I now work full-time for another charity supporting young people” (having previously been unemployed)

“I really enjoyed the training and can’t wait to start.”
